Creative Challenge of the Week: Board Games

Wednesday 27th May 2020 — Tuesday 30th Jun 2020

For our Creative Challenge this week, we want you to create your own family board game.

As lots of us are currently spending more time at home with our families or housemates, a board game is a great way to connect and have fun!

You could make your own version of family favourites like snakes and ladders. Or you could use your imaginative superpowers to make up your own game!

Think about what materials you may like to use… you could craft your game out of cardboard, or create a chess board with LEGO, even transform a blackboard for scrabble. If you have access to an outside space at home, you may like to create an outdoor board game for the family to enjoy.

We also have our commissioned project, Looking for a New England, a storytelling game created by Ian Nicholson and Amy Godliman which invites you to discover your own rituals to celebrate throughout the year. Click here for the game guide and cutouts.

If you would like to play with those you can't meet in person at the moment, you could also try to create a board game that you can play through video call services such as Zoom, Skype and Facetime. Bingo is a great accessible game to play online - here is a free online bingo card generator that you can customise however you like (and it doesn't have to be numbers)!

There are so many board games out there to inspire you and you can be as creative as you like with this challenge to make your own game for you and your family!

We would love to see your family board game, so do share them with us!
