We've got a wide variety of activities coming up to keep you busy over the summer holidays, from theatre, cinema, plus a wide range of workshops in the Learning Centre. The Brick City exhibition will also be running at The Base.
Theatre...
Hitting our stage from the 2 - 4 August will be the zany and hilarious production of the bestselling children's storybook Aliens Love Underpants, suitable for ages and 3 over. Featuring stunning effects, madcap action, original music as well as plenty of aliens, this stage adaptation is not to be missed.
In our cosy 40 seat cinema....
There are some perfect family offerings in Toy Story 4 (U) (27 Jul – 1 Aug), where the story of Woody, Buzz and the gang continues in another rollercoaster of a movie, and The Lion King (PG) (16 – 22 Aug), where eye-poppingly realistic CGI brings to life Disney's cherished animation about a lion cub's courageous journey.
We also offer a special Cinema Club for youngsters aged 7 to 11, who can enjoy a screening of The Lego Movie 2 (6 Aug) and The Greatest Showman (13 Aug) followed by a creative workshop in the Learning Centre.
To complete your trip to our cinema, you can come along to our Kitchen and Bar for a bite to eat, where film ticket holders can enjoy our lunch time offer of a hot or cold sandwich with crisps, kaleslaw and a drink from £5.
In our Learning Centre...
We have creative fun at the Make and Do Summer Club (31 Jul, 1, 2, 7 – 9, 14 – 16 Aug), where ages 4 to 8 can enjoy activities ranging from arts and crafts to dance and movement. Children can be either be booked in for a half day or full day.
Youngsters aged 9 to 12 who enjoy performing can spend a day creating their very own piece of theatre in Play in a Day (12 Aug).
In collaboration with NOCTURN, the Learning Centre is also offering a Summer Dance Week (20 – 25 Aug) ideal for any aspiring young dancers. Available across Infants, Juniors and Seniors this is an amazing opportunity for young people to work with professional dance artists, finishing the week with a performance on the Corn Exchange stage to friends and family.
There will also be an Adult Dance Week (20 - 25 Aug) with intensive evening and weekend workshops.
At The Base, Greenham Business Park...
The Brick City exhibition is open daily and will be running until Sunday 8 September. This features iconic buildings from around the world that have been carefully recreated using LEGO® bricks. Families can pick up a free quiz sheet and see if they can spot hidden details in the exhibits, and children can also have a go at building their own creations out of LEGO® and DUPLO® bricks in the Brick Den (additional charge applies).
