Hire a studio

Launched in spring 2019, The Base presents high quality touring exhibitions throughout the year in our gallery space, along with a bustling workshop room for courses and classes, and resident artists making on site. Located on the first floor, there are 8 studios supporting artists at various stages of their career and, importantly, from varying disciplines. The artists in residence are the lifeblood of the building.

Working in accessible studios, so that visitors can interact with artists, The Base is an artistic hub of cultural excellence. Our aim when we opened the building last year was to create a community of artists, participants and visitors who are all have equal importance and status.

Our resident artists and craft makers are at varying points in their career. You may currently be working from home and need more space or you may be more established with your own studio but want to relocate to be part of a new community of artists and participants. Whatever your personal situation may be, it is the ethos that binds us together. We are seeking artists and craft makers who:

• Create exceptional, high quality work
• Are open spirited, generous, and ambitious
• Is committed to community engagement
• Will have a strong and regular presence at The Base
