Handmade Holidays at The Base

We have an amazing range of fantastically festive workshops in store for you in the coming months, providing the perfect opportunity for you to catch up with friends in the run-up to Christmas!
Workshops in our Gallery...
Our Gallery will be transformed into a craft-making grotto for a series of special workshops...
Join Judith Needham to Make a Willow Star to decorate your home this Christmas, or it could be displayed on a wall all year round. Judith also runs a Family Willow Decoration Making workshop so the whole gang can get creative! Using a whole range of basketry techniques, you get lots of learning in Judith’s classes, as well as impressive creations to take home with you.
Create your own Silk Painted Christmas Cards with Helen Mortimer using iron-fixed silk paints, or join Festive Candle Making, and give your creations as a special Christmas gift for friends and family... after all, Christmas is a time for giving!
New for 2025, we're so excited to host our first Festive Floral Table Arrangement workshop with Caroline Thomas from Bramble Cottage Flowers, and also Festive Indian Block Printing with Homemade by Mils and Mum.
Workshops in our lookout studio
Work with some amazing mediums this festive season too - we've got glass, copper, ink and gold workshops!
Join Shirely Eccles to explore the world of Glass Fusing and create a Festive Wreath and Decorations, or create a Christmas Copper Wreath with Flora Gare. Charlotte Adcock will show you how to Print Your Way To An Eco Christmas and teach you traditional lino print techniques to craft your own Christmas cards, gift tags or wrapping paper. Learn the art of gilding with gold leaf whilst creating a beautiful and unique Christmas decoration with Ellie Kerr-Smiley in Gold Leafing Festive Baubles workshops.
Family workshops
Along with Judith Needham's Family Willow Decoration Making workshop in our main Gallery space, we've also got Children's Festive Printmaking and a Festive Clay Decorations workshop to get creative and spend some valuable time with your family.
So grab your diary and plot some creative me-time in before things start getting busy! We hope to see you soon...
