Young Curators 2026

Looking for a creative opportunity for a young person aged 14–18? Young Curators at The Base Greenham offers a free, four-week introduction to the world of art galleries, exhibitions and careers in the arts.

For young people with an interest in art, creativity or simply exploring what they might like to do in the future, Young Curators is a fantastic opportunity to try something new, develop practical skills and discover the many career pathways the arts can offer.

This free, friendly and welcoming programme gives participants a behind-the-scenes look at life in a professional gallery. Over four sessions, young people will explore Small Wonders: Reimagining British Art on loan from the Hayward Gallery, meet The Base’s Resident Artists and learn from a professional curator.

They'll also have the chance to put their new skills into practice by curating their own exhibition in The Base’s Runway Gallery. From developing creative ideas to understanding how exhibitions come together, participants will gain valuable insight into what it takes to bring art to the public.

Whether your teenager is already passionate about art or is just beginning to explore their interests, Young Curators offers a supportive environment to build confidence, meet like-minded people and discover opportunities they may not have considered before.

The course is free to attend and open to young people aged 14–18.

Sessions take place at The Base from 6–7.30pm on the following dates:

Thursday 15 October
Thursday 22 October
[There will be a one-week break over half term]
Thursday 5 November
Thursday 12 November

Give your teenager the chance to explore their creativity, gain hands-on experience and discover where an interest in the arts could lead.

Young Curators is a project run by The Base and funded by Gerald Palmer Eling.
