In this fun and relaxed class with Hazel Reindorp from Odd Bindings, you will learn to make your own hand bound book in a day.

Hazel will teach you how to measure, cut and cover your book and sew the pages into their beautiful and unusual cover.

You will discuss the importance of grain direction in paper, and learn how to measure, cut and cover the boards that make up a books cover. You will fold and trim your book pages, use coloured thread to sew the sections of the case together and then attach the pages to the case. The front cover of the book will fold back on itself, making it a great binding for travel and note-taking whilst on the move.

A full set of instructions will also be provided for you to keep, so that you can reproduce this binding at home. You will be introduced to some of a book binder's most useful tools and get the opportunity to ask questions and discuss other forms of binding while we work. This class is suitable for both beginners and more experienced crafters; however, we will be using sharp knives so participants must have good grip in both hands.
