What to expect: Learn the art of embossing onto coloured foil with sculptor Flora Gare. Inspired by winter themed images, design a garland to decorate your home and show off to your friends. Using templates you'll learn how to trace, emboss and cut the foil, stringing it together to display.
Benefits: Wire is a malleable and diverse material that allows you to experiment with different forms and shapes in a creative and spontaneous way.
Who is your tutor: Flora is a sculptor inspired by the natural world. She uses copper wire to draw in space, making delicate sculptures and wall based pieces that contrast the line of wire with the colour and fluidity of ink. She has been teaching drawing and sculpture in workshops, schools and adult education for over 20 years. Graduating with an MA in Sculpture from Winchester School of Art she has exhibited widely and completed commissions for various public spaces.
Session times: 10am - 1pm
What to bring/wear: All materials and instructions supplied but feel free to bring any winter themed images for inspiration. And if you need glasses for fine detailed close up work - please bring them.
