Experimental Pottery Glazing

Monday 12th Aug 2024 — Monday 19th Aug 2024, The Lookout Studio, The Base

Explore and deepen your understanding of pottery glazing with Base resident artist Cáit Gould.

This course is designed for ceramic students eager to expand the creative possibilities of their work. In this hands-on, three-part course you'll explore a variety of brush-on glazes, slips and oxides. Through playful and experimental approaches you will create test samples to decorate in a range of ways. Cáit will cover some of the technical background of glaze composition, basic troubleshooting, and chemistry to help your understanding of how and why clay and glaze do what they do. Our final session includes a short interpretation and understanding of your results at collection time over a cuppa.

Whether you're looking to enhance your current glazing skills or experiment with new and exciting surface treatments, this workshop offers the perfect opportunity to develop the glaze side of your creative process. Join us to explore how to transform your ceramic creations with stunning, one-of-a-kind finishes.
