Tree lines: Searching for possibilities

Saturday 26th Oct 2024, Lookout Studio, The Base

A page full of tree drawings, some in black and white some in shades of orange

A workshop with Amanda Hislop using drawn lines, colour washes, and collage on paper and cloth with folding techniques to free up and create expressive compositions for development into stitch and mixed media work.

Responding to the exhibition Kurt Jackson: Oak, take elements of this iconic tree as a starting point. Work in response drawing on personal experience of trees with loose expressive mark making, using a combination of drawn marks and torn collage work and layered colour washes, to create dynamic abstract compositions in paper and collage on cloth. Work and develop these surfaces; fold, fragment, rearrange work with the option to use hand stitch to enhance line, texture, and form. Experiment, the choice is yours!

Duration: 10am - 4pm

Includes entry to Kurt Jackson: Oak exhibition in The Base gallery.
