Introduction to Glass Fusing

Workshop date: Sun 18 Jan

Times:
11am - 5pm

Join Shirely Eccles for an introduction to the skills and techniques involved in glass fusing and slumping.

You will have the option to make two kiln-fired pieces and you will have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of ideas and glass materials.

We will have the option to make two kiln-fired pieces: a bowl/platter and either coasters, a suncatcher or a wind chime.

Project 1:
You can create either a small wall hanging, coasters, a sun catcher or a wind chime.

Project 2:
You will learn techniques to design your own sheet of art glass. This will then be used to form a slumped bowl or platter.

Suitable moulds will be discussed and prepared for this process, as the technique will include two firings. These will be taken away for firing in a kiln and will be returned to The Base for you to collect after the course.

Please bring a note/sketchbook, images and ideas, dust mask, safety glasses and apron (if you have this available).
