Sashiko has a beautiful heritage story and each pattern has a meaning and philosophy.

Mandy Allport will deliver this ‘Japanese experience’ workshop where you will not only learn the skills of Sashiko but also be immersed in the values and culture of Japan in a stunning sensory workshop.

What to expect:
Choose 3 designs from an extensive library and be taught the practise and different methods of application. Mandy will demonstrate how to add sashiko to clothing items and show you different methods for repairing.

Includes materials for 3 sample pieces including all threads and needles, plus a tote bag for taking home to continue your craft.

Benefits:
The craft of sashiko can be a great way to creatively mend and repair clothing, while also being a mindful practice. You will leave with Sashiko skills to apply to your own clothes or items such as tote bags, make up purses, cushions or tableware.

Who is your tutor:
Mandy Allport, the founder of Born Again Bohemia, dreams of being creative everyday whilst serving the planet. Working with textiles, mixed media and jewellery design, Born Again Bohemia champions heritage crafts - embracing the beauty in sustainable materials, driven by an ethos to protect the environment, and those vulnerable in society.

Duration: 10am - 2.30pm

What to bring / wear: All materials are included. Participants are encouraged to bring any denim items to practise on.
