Recovery Street Exhibition
In addition to our main Gallery currently exhibiting Quentin Blake and John Yeoman 50 Years of Children’s Books, we are thrilled to be exhibiting Recovery Street, a free photographic exhibition from local community organisation Recovery in Mind in our Runway Gallery.
The collection of photographs on display were taken by students attending the RIM Recovery Street Course, using photography as a means to capture individual journeys through mental health challenges. From an uneven road to a stained glass window, each photograph is meaningful to individual journeys or experiences of managing or overcoming mental health challenges.
When you visit The Base, take some time to experience these journeys through their photographic work and accompanying stories and thoughts. The display is both inspiring and thought-provoking, giving an insight into the challenges, thoughts, hopes and goals of managing and working towards personal wellbeing. Alongside free courses offered by Recovery in Mind, the exhibition serves as a visual reminder, designed to increase knowledge and understanding of the challenges of mental health, which can impact everyday lives. Creativity and the arts can serve as a great tool to allow people to take back control of their own wellbeing and become experts in their own mental health and recovery.
